Subway Surfer
Released in 2012, Subway Surfer is an endless runner set on busy subway tracks. Dodge trains, jump over barriers, and collect coins as you escape from an inspector and his dog. The controls are easy to learn, but a mistimed move can end a run. Each attempt is a chance to beat your high score.
Play Online
Subway Surfer online is an endless running game. Dodge trains and barriers by jumping, rolling, or switching lanes. Watch the track ahead so you have time to react.
Collect coins along the way when it’s safe. Use them to unlock power-ups, hoverboards, and characters. A few coins aren’t worth risking your run.
Basic Controls
- Left / Right Arrow: Switch lanes to avoid trains and obstacles.
- Up Arrow: Jump over barriers and track hazards.
- Down Arrow: Roll under overhead obstacles.
- Space: Use a hoverboard during your run.
React quickly, especially when obstacles are close together. Move to a clear lane early, and jump or roll when needed.
Free Computer Play
Subway Surfers runs for free in a web browser, with no download or installation needed. On a PC, use the keyboard to switch lanes, jump, roll, and activate a hoverboard. You can also play in full-screen mode, which gives you more room to track the moving course and obstacles.
Press Start to begin. A long run takes focus and good timing, so watch the route and react early when choosing a lane or clearing a barrier. If you’re new to the keyboard controls, try each key before going for a high score.
Game Creator
Danish studio SYBO created Subway Surfers, which launched in 2012 and quickly found players around the world. The game’s run-and-dodge controls are easy to pick up, and each themed world gives the tracks a different look.
Over the years, SYBO has added new settings and updates while keeping the main task the same: dodge obstacles, collect coins, and keep running. Returning players can jump into a new setting without learning a new control scheme.
Popular Characters
Subway Surfers has a varied cast of characters to unlock with coins and keys. Each has a distinct look or attitude, but they all play the same way: dodge hazards and run as far as you can.

- Tricky: Smart and stylish, always ready for the next challenge.
- Yutani: A tech fan with a sci-fi look.
